Just finished reading.....

Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx. I think Proulx has a great writing style although the technique she has employed in this work is very different from that in The Shipping News. The story reads well and confronts the issues of homosexuality, clandestine love, societal responses to homosexaul love, homophobia, friendship and farming communities in the mid west of America.

I anticipate that director Ang Lee will deliver the same sensitive nuances to the movie. I also wonder whether the movie will be as graphic given that the two leads are popular actors and so called heterosexual pin up boys?

Reading...

Seven Types of Ambiguity by Elliot Perlman. I am not a fan of Australian writers but enjoy his style. Perlamn is a young Melbourne barrister. He also wrote 3 Dollars. I was not enamoured with the screen play version of that at all. I hope if they bring 7 to the screen they won't ruin it. Maybe the answer is to leave David Wenham out of movies altogether.
